This is an article I really love to publish because I think it will be very important, not just for me to remember what I use but for other people as well. You may have other workflows, tools, etc that you love, and that's fine.
I have analyzed my time in rescuetime also I analyze my goals, and now I know some things need to change
This will be divided into IDEs, design and composition software, office software, calendars, blog, video creation, everything that needs to get done, music production, etc.
Also, I will lay down my setup that I currently use.
For me, it is really essential because I need to improve my time management in order to work and study, so I need to make my best.
So pretty much my workflow depends on the day.
I am currently a computer science student that makes a lot of research on his own.
University is taking a lot of my time, and now I want to work? Things will go messy if i don't organize well.
So this is my take.
- Limit my communication on meetings: ok this is hard but with tools like loom, clickup i will do it, i bet.
- Workflows for the big 2: Software development, Design and Composition: these are my main areas to focus this 2022. I have some ideas of workflows like improve my computer, my setup, get a new monitor, try to be at home as much as I can, etc, focus mode.
- English: This is one of my favorite takes, i will try to listen, read, write and speak in English as much as i can. So i will see all my courses in English, i will all my books in English, i will write my articles in English and i will learn to rap, you guess it, in English.
Workflow 1: Software development
Ok software development is though, so i will have at a minimum 31 hours of software engineer on my month (that´s 7 hours per week, 1 hour per day). It´s true that not always is necessary for me to code, but i will make my best to do it.
For concentrate, i will use calm as my primary music site.
i will schedule #focustime in my calendar, it will synchro with slack so my teammates know i am working. Also i will try to make a public calendar so people could see my focus sessions
Asus f510ua: my personal laptop, i upgrade the ram and the ssd and it runs everything i need (for now).
Xiaomi A2 lite: my lovely phone, it gets the job done for communication although is getting a bit slower.
Linux Distro Ubuntu
I live in linux for software development purposes, ubuntu is my main distro, usually don´t change a lot.
Ubuntu and windows 11 are my primary OS these days, now i really love windows 11 coming from windows 10. Although i know they are both the same thing.
I use primarily jetbrains ides like Webstorm , IntelliJ (the most famous probably), PhpStorm, GoLang and DataGrip. I love it because their GUI in the time to work with docker, git and the debugger.
They have a really amazing student plan, i use it for completing my code, today it works ok, not excellent as i thought.
Visual Studio Code
I can't live without it, when i need some fast IDE to solve problems. This is the one.
Atom Dark theme
My favorite theme hands down.
This is my favorite light theme.
Hosting and stuff
Some of my projects are hosted there
For host my next js projects. Really amazing.
In this site i will put my blog. They have amazing and easy to use cloud tools for developers. I know i need to work more on AWS, but for now DigitalOcean is my choice.
I am trying new browsers, but chrome is the best for my needs, it gets cool with extensions, works well both on ubuntu and windows 11. So no complaints for now.
I read it on a blog, and i think of giving a try, it comes handy when working with code. I can store code snippets and improve my workflow.
I don´t remember a single password, dashlane handles all , i use the first time because some 6 months free, then i couldn´t resist.
Hotspot Shield VPN
This vpn comes with dashlane, and is super cool
Oh dear! How a person can live without music ? Spotify is one of my longest subscription ever.
It gives some focus sessions that work pretty well too. Rescuetime handles well for now, so i don't use it so much.
This social media management app has an amazing design., that i want to try.
This year i am putting my effort to track my time, for projects, clients.
Design and Composition
Notion is my main, not going to lie. My second brain, i hace my life documented in notion.
Rescuetime (time tracking and blocking app) makes me productive i can schedule some focus sesions which is a time block for make some very productive work like coding, writing, producing and design.
Leechblock And Appblock
This is my new block app website, it makes everything easier
Freedom is an app that handles distracting websites across all devices. Very handy in times that I am really into youtube binge watching.
That extension alone reduces my time spend on youtube like a 45%, the feed, recommended videos are gone when using this extension. It is really amazing.
Yeah know that i use clickup i though about giving a try.
Ready to record videos
No need to mention , passwords are on the web always
Notion Web Clipper
Probably the best web clipper out there, for my needs i am not in need of another web clipper.
It gives insights of my time in a faster way.
Right now i am not using it a lot, since i have the app also open when i am developing.
Pretty cool to know about the technologies a website has
Photo and Video
It has like 1000+ Lightroom filters for photos and videos. I was skeptical because too little free filters, but 11.99$ is not a big deal for everything this app brings. I will take more photos.
I regret buying the PRO instead of the basic, but i will give it another try.
Adobe Creative Cloud
I got a good discount as a student, and I am using it because of my thesis project that I need to handle some interfaces in adobe xd.
Premiere Pro is helping me in finishing some videos.
I can’t escape guys, this is my main. I use primarily for university, according to Rescuetime this is one of my most used apps of 2021.
Slack is really useful to communicate with my teammates in Ayudinga.
I like to have telegram for the people that uses it and want to chat with me in that platform.
Zoom calls are a classic, this app is a gem for doing that, i think it suits me pretty well.
This one is so pretty, and many people love it for a reason. Make communities there is really cool.
This one has a little story, i see it and i thought to myself (this is like an OBS combined with google drive), then i try to do it in that way and doesn´t work like i thought, it makes things easy. It has a free personal education plan for students that works wonderful.
Probably the best investment in education i have ever done, a lot of courses, books, content. I get through my ACM account it is a great investment
Along with ACM, this are my subscriptions on professional institutes. Right now i am on the chapter of Computer Society
My long time mate, udemy has pretty courses at an affordable price.
I need to learn English, and i need to learn it now. Babbel is where i practice my vocabulary, i think for 2022 is worth it the premium version, going to see if i really improve, i bet.
I love their creative courses.
I read and buy my books there.
This app blew my mind, this 2022 i really want to give it a try for my team.
For my team at Ayudinga, it helps a lot.
Mindfulness and Mental Health
This is my favorite app of 2021. It has a lot of meditations, amazing instructors. The LeBron’s James sessions was the real deal, so happy to use it
It reminds me of taking breaks when i am at the computer, what a lovely app.
My favorite social media app, networking + good (and crazy ideas) + amazing people + get news on everything. I love twitter.
